National Account of the Month

Over the past year, Principle has been rehabbing several apartment complexes in the Atlanta metro. They had been purchasing their materials from several different vendors and used The Home Depot as a backup for "odds and ends" or last minute needs. Jack Holt, THD PASA, and Chad Nails, Glidden CSR, began calling on Principle at Sedgefield Apts. This 1440+ unit property was getting a full rehab and Principle took what was supposed to be a 12 month project and completed it less than 6 months. They implemented a system to build teams of workers that could specialize in a certain aspect of the rehab and turn several units in one day. Better yet, THD and Glidden began to work with Principle to streamline their purchases to coordinate with the needs of the workers.

Up to this point, Principle had used Sherwin-Williams and relied on their contractors to pick up the product. The Glidden Initiative through THD allowed Principle to bring in the paint and sundries with the rest of their materials. Furthermore, Glidden was able to consolidate their colors and sheen levels for all properties. Patti Molzen, one of the buyers from Principle told us, "Glidden covers and touches up better than any paint we've ever used." Principle has bought 3,100 gallons of paint since November 2002. And that's just for the interior. They are now getting ready to work on their third property and have to include exterior finishes for that project. Their plan is rehab 12 more properties in the next 12 to 18 months. The relationship with Principle is a great example of how THD and Glidden can outservice the competition.
